, it finally seemed to be getting better. And today, my brilliant self slams my pinky in a car door. Ouch! And not just a little slam. I crushed my nail, and busted a blood vessel. My finger is swollen, and all kinds of colors and throbbing, nasty pain.
I just need a vacation. I’ve been way too clumsy these past couple days, and I need protection from myself.
Nothing like a great start to a week, eh?

Consider taking up drinking as a hobby? Gives a nice cover story and you dont feel your fingers and toes quite as much.

SR2.... No, on second thought, maybe not.
Best just to have a drink and go back to bed.

Did you get a subungual hematoma under the nail? (i.e. purple/black and pain)?
![]() 08/18/2015 at 10:49 |

Yeah, I got pics, but trust me, you don’t want to see them!

When my brother was in high school a lady friend shut the car door on his hand and started to drive off. Not long after she ran over his foot.
So at least you're not harming others? I dunno, just wanted to share that story because it seemed related.

Of course! I’ll be great until the buzz wears off, then I discover the pain of all my drunk injuries.

Looks that way.

Ow. Your poor brother. That “lady friend” sounds like a witch.

If it’s throbbing you should probably get it drained. The swelling can be pretty painful.

Yeah, I really should, but I’m at work right now, and can’t really afford to take off. I might after work though.

Last one I had drained shot blood 8” high from the pressure. Felt so much better afterward.

Doesn’t sound pleasant, but I’m sure it would be a relief.

Actually pretty painless. They just take a really hot, thin wire and burn a tiny hole through the nail. Totally worth it.

Yeah, I’m somewhat familiar with the process. Never experienced it. When I hurt my toe Sunday, if the toenail had a hematoma, we talked about doing that with a needle or tiny drillbit, but ended up not needing to. I was relieved. Guess I celebrated a little too soon. When I get off work though, if it’s really not that bad, I’ll change into a ratty shirt and go get it drained.

She was super inattentive. She had lots of dings and scratches on her car.

Uh oh, you just injured him.

You don’t have a whole bunch of blood under the fingernail, do you? Because that sucks.
![]() 08/18/2015 at 12:27 |

LOL! Probably so!

Not a whole lot, no. Less than half the nail is blue. Most of the blood is just under the surface of the fingertip and surrounding. It looks like wet blood there but is completely dry.

If it’s under the nail and causing pain or pressure, draining it will help immensely. A few years ago when I shut my thumb in the door of my truck, I actually took a pin and wore a hole in my thumbnail to lessen the pressure and it helped a lot.
